How the gold rate per gram is calculated
Gold is priced internationally in US dollars per troy ounce (31.1035 grams). To get the price per gram in your currency, we divide the ounce price by 31.1035, convert it with today's exchange rate and multiply by the karat purity.
price per gram = (ounce price ÷ 31.1035) × exchange rate × (karat ÷ 24)

Why the shop price is different
This is the raw metal (spot) price. Jewellery shops add making charges and their margin, and in Saudi Arabia 15% VAT applies to gold jewellery. When selling old gold, shops usually deduct a refining and margin amount. One tola is about 11.66 grams.
Indicative price, updated several times a day. Not an offer to buy or sell.
