How to calculate VAT
Add VAT to a price
total = price × (1 + rate ÷ 100)
At 15%: SAR 100 × 1.15 = SAR 115, of which SAR 15 is VAT.
Remove VAT from a total
price = total ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100)
SAR 115 ÷ 1.15 = SAR 100. Note: taking 15% off 115 gives 97.75, which is wrong.
VAT amount from a total
At 15%, multiply the total by 15 ÷ 115 (0.1304). Example: SAR 230 × 0.1304 = SAR 30 VAT.
